Where is the Summer??

Submitted by Kirsty on

Hi everyone,

It's the burning question. Where is our Summer?

When the sun shines I do an abundance of French Shellac manicures, as most clients feel 'summery' like the weather when they have it. This rainy weather is keeping me busy with coloured Shellac! Everyone wants to brighten their nails up with pinks and reds just to try and make themselves feel happier. The most popular Shellac colours at the moment is Decadance, a beautiful deep cherry red and Tutti Fruiti, a vivid pearly pink. As long as Pinkies has happy clients, I really don't mind what you choose!

Updates

Hi everyone,

Am i glad to see the back of last week. I had to spend another 3 hours at the Eye Hospital in Birmingham getting my eyes checked again! I think I may need to set up a nail station in there...I am fast becoming a permanent fixture!! I have to add that this weeks visit was probably the best yet. While waiting, my husband, along with my best friend managed to get me two tickets to see my idol, Lady GaGa in September. To say I was delighted was an understatement. So I am off for the weekend with my friend to shop, eat and dance along with my idol :-)

Manicure V Shellac

Submitted by Kirsty on

Hi everyone,

I have been asked several times this week why I promote a shellac manicure over a varnish manicure.

When Pinkies was first established three years ago, varnish manicures were very popular but a guarantee for its duration was very hard to do. I know from experience that the most expensive nail varnishes don't tend to last any longer than cheaper ones. It's a fact that varnish chips, smudges and takes an age to dry! As you can imagine, the launch of the shellac manicure was the best news any nail technician could hear.

New Shellac Colours

Submitted by Kirsty on

Hi everyone,

It seems a while since I blogged but I have been so busy with Pinkies and BerryBlue as well as personal things.

Well the great news is, Pinkies has all the new Shellac colours and they are lush. Adding to the other fab colours we have a mushroom brown colour, a beautiful deep aubergine and a very pale grey. As usual, they have been a huge hit with everyone.

March Approaches

Submitted by Kirsty on

Hi everyone,

Another month will soon be behind us, this year has started off very quickly for Pinkies. I think I have had a record number of Shellac Manicure recommendations this month with January defiantely being the busiest January since I started Pinkies three years ago. Sincere thanks to everyone again, I really am truly grateful.

Shellac have another six new colours launching in March so be assured that Pinkies will have those ready for you all to try. They are a collection of earthy tones, browns, golds etc. Nice!

February Update

Submitted by Kirsty on

Hi everyone,

What is happening with this weather? I loathe snow! Not only because I have to drive in it daily to visit you lovely ladies but it's cold and so un-necessary.

What's new? I have recently bought another shellac manicure colour that pretty much changes the colour of all the shellac colours I have. It's called Moonlight & Roses. It's a beautiful irredescent tone that can change a matt grey to a beautiful metallic graphite. It's a must try.

Acrylic IS NOT a Gel

Submitted by Kirsty on

Hi everyone,

I have many calls every week from unsuspecting ladies that claim to have 'gel' on their nails. Having had so many of these calls I am always pretty spot on with my judgement and very quickly I can establish that these poor ladies have acrylics. How? Its easy to spot and here are things you need to look out for if you are fobbed off with the 'gel' story!

* Acrylic has a highly pungent smell

* Acrylic IS NOT A GEL!!! Acrylic is a powder mixed with a liquid to make a 'gel like bead' on the brush. THIS IS WHERE THEY FOOL YOU!

January Blues?

Submitted by Kirsty on

Hi everyone,

Its all over! Tree packed away, food eaten and its back to the grind stone :-)

Pinkies Gel Nails has had a busy start to January with the usual Shellac Manicures. As I mentioned in a previous blog, I am once again offering gel extensions. This has received very positive responses from several ladies trying to get out of the awful acrylic nail bars. My new gel, CND Brisa, is a buff off gel so very hard wearing.

Don't forget those feet too. Natasha still does pedicures for those tired feet so go on, give them a treat ;-)
