Hi all,
It has been bought to my attention many times over the last few weeks. I have seen several ladies that tell me they have gels on and require infils. These ladies are all new clients so I have no idea what to expect until I get there.
The acrylic nail bars are now fooling may unsuspecting ladies into believing that they are having gels. These are the ladies I have been seeing. As a customer with no knowledge of the products used on nails it would be easy to be fooled into believing you are having gel at these nail bars. Below are a few pointers that will set off alarm bells if you are told its gel but is really acrylic.
* Acrylic has a very very strong smell. Gel DOES NOT.
* Acrylic is made up of two ingredients. Monomer and acrylic powder. The brush is dipped in the liquid monomer then into the powder to form a gel. THIS IS WHERE THEY KID YOU. Application to the nail at this point would fool you into thinking it is gel. GEL IS ONE INGREDIENT ONLY.
* Acrylic is an air dry product. Gel IS NOT. Gel needs to be cured under a UV lamp. If your hand is not put under a UV lamp after every application then YOU ARE HAVING ACRYLICS!!!!
* Acrylic nail bars use barbaric electric gels to level out the acrylic on your nail. Gel is self levelling and no filing on the nail plate is required.
* Acrylic's do not allow your nail movement and will more than likely damage your nails for life.
* The moral of this blog....NEVER HAVE ACRYLIC NAILS.
I was let down at the last minute by a local nail technician and called Pinkies. Kirsty changed her day to accomodate us and we now have THE MOST AMAZING NAILS! I realise now that I should certainly do more research in future. Pinkies really are the best, thank goodness I googled you! My nails look perfect for my wedding tomorrow.
